10/3/14 Contest update
Will it go down in the history books as fearless Friday??? Neither Ebola nor short sellers scared off courageous traders who, shunning HazMat suits, gobbled up stocks in a pre-Yom Kippur feeding frenzy. And Friday’s gains were enough to pretty much negate the losses from earlier in the week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 3.75% YTD (vs. up 3.43% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 21.48% YTD (vs. up 22.04% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 7.16% YTD (vs. up 8.04% YTD a week ago).
DIEGO’s portfolio, up 67.83% YTD, held on to the Contest lead, with WATCHIT’s portfolio, up 66.63% YTD, close behind in second place and DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 57.69% YTD, in third place.
At Friday's close, 25 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 11 of the 46 were beating the NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (MEIP) is down -13.36% YTD.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: ITMN buyout proceeds were reallocated for DIEGO, GHMM and WATCHIT. I used the $74 buyout price and the 10/3/14 closing prices for the reallocation.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
