WAY OFF TOPIC: Meant for Mevis but any who are into cals, testing equip and other might pick up something or in fact SHARE.

Mevis 3100 cal is just the basic.. There was a time if I ate but 3100 I'd lose weight. One has to consider age, lean body mass etc. ( So I took care of that and said OK 5000 cal will solve that problem. SMILE. You know that's not that hard to do.. One quart of Hagaan daz is apprx 2700 cal, a lb of chocolate pudding is 800, and a Santa Fe salad at Cheese cake factory is 1600.. SMILE)

There is good news.

We live in a time where if one has the desire they can undergo tests to determine what one requires for calories at rest, during normal activity and working out.

Off the top of my head a full work up including a hydrostatic test is apprx 280 dollars. There are companies that can perform the test or one can go to a good College and get it done. I use a private company.

If I was talking to a healthy 20 year old.. I'd suggest he or she getting baseline of max heart rate stress test.. I think the term is VOX2 MAX. stress test. For sure I'd have all buy a Polar heart monitor or similar. One can get a decent one for 100 dollar ish..

The point being the only way to know what the max heart rate is ...well is to test it. Many who have stress tests are not doing so at 100% Reason is simple...There is RISK. Most tests are done at 80% and less as one ages.

I was fortunate to establish my first max heart test at 25.. And I've stayed on top of that for a long time. My max heart rate is 184. I recommend for any who are HEALTHY to have a max test when under 25.. Over 25 check with a GOOD HEART DR, It helps if he/she is sports affiliated. THEY understand. OR how can a HEART DR understand what my heart is doing during a workout if he tests it for 145 heart rate when I can easily push 155-165 and the occassional peak. He/she can't. The only way to know is to hook it up..and floor it. Just as one would a car engine. If there's a flaw it will show up. Hopefully one doesn't go ker plunk. My fav exercise equip for pushing the heart for an hour.. VERSA CLIMBER.. NORDIC TRACK.. ROWING MACHINE.. GAUNTLET ( be very careful with that one. It has no concious it's a modified version of an escalator), Hill climbers are very effective... Now I realize many use tread mills, etc. I'm just saying for ME Those machines will get my heart up FAST and then I can implement whatever workout I want. The more one can load the heart effectively the better.

Over the years I've seen them come forth with the many different pieces of equip..

I remember working out on a proto type for the lifecycle...

I remember when the gauntlet was set up with a computer, and took your vox2...

I remember when the POLAR HEART MONITOR was CIC and a very basic model was 350. Now one can get one that ties to the computer and the latest accessory the LOOP is slick.

Speaking of CALS... The general rule is

17 cal a lb for the active

15 cal a lb for the moderately active

13 cal for the sedate.

Where many make a mistake..

OK the person thinks they are active.. so 200 lb man and 3400 cal.

But in truth they are sedate..Typing 100 words a minute does not qualify as active..GIGGLE.

So 200 x 13 = 2600

Notice 800 cal difference.

So if one did the basic 3500 cal = a lb that means the 800 cal difference would mean putting on a lb ever 4 plus days...

And then there's the BUT I burn 2000 calories during a workout. FOR the majority thats in their minds. If one really wants to know what they burn.. Go to a clinic that does performs the test and get hooked up and take the test. At this age I still burn 977 an hour. SO as I joked earlier... one takes in 5000..needs 3100 and even a ex 1000 workout and geesh 5000-4000= 1000 too many or every 3.5 days one adds a lb.

It's really just math.

Now re Gold.

It's got a bounce in it.

BUT.. don't forget SPX is going to act similar to what GOLD did.. as it retraces and that means lots of bounce there as well. A good trader will do well.

The INVESTOR should be careful what they buy. I've long stated DIS will make it's way back to the 50's.. I hold that view.
