of course, this why they are protesting in Hong Kong. Hong Kongers enjoy immense freedoms relative to Mainlanders and want to keep it that way.
The "daydream" needs to succeed somewhere first before spreading to the mainland.
as to this:
The rest of the world to do as it says also before preaching out
The rest of the world does practice what they preach... including Hong Kong. Hong Kong long ago outlawed the eating of dogs (refer to MQ's VVV) and if there's spitting and pooping in the streets of Hong Kong, its Mainlanders.

Even McDonalds and KFC are not hiding their light under a bushel a s evidenced by this Chinese girl's testimony:
....the public services are very poor in China due to our government is not looking themselves as a "service provider" but a "country manager". Well, obviously their management skill is not good. The public conveniences are not so much in China. And most of the restaurants, office building and small hotels refuse to let the passerby use their washroom. The funny thing is McDonald's and KFC became the proper "Toilet" in China because they don't refuse people and they are everywhere in the city.

For now, the Chinese can be thankful for our Micky Dee's and KFC's.... not because its good food (we all know its pretty much junk food) but for the CULTURE it brings. Wouldn't surprise me if they have a sign on the door when you enter that says "?????!"

Like I said, in the best case scenario Hong Kong succeeds in exerting a positive influence over Mainland China, making China a better China.
