Sometimes it's wiser to stay away from the margin play. Depends on a number of variables, two of which are age and financial status. No doubt, you've probably taken a jerk in the last couple of months like most of the rest of us. It's quite tempting to chase the losses with your margin account, but the key is, if you can afford to cover the margin when it is called without serious financial bind. Also, consider the margin interest. '98, in my opinion, will be slower for the tech stocks than '97. Hence, few companies with double didgit growth and profits. Good luck.
