The problem is not so much nanometers but whether you can get those products into the marketplace. You can't just sell engines anymore. Apple has been selling entire products. Design the best product you can at a certain price point and hopefully you have people waiting in lines around the block. CPUs and apus are still important but not so much as the entire supporting cast of other components. Amd is not playing to its strengths and may have lost the enthusiast market as well. More diversification is not better unless the numbers add up in big ways.
