Yes, true. Even today the most secular & democratic country in the islamic world & one of our allies is Turkey which had huge Hellene influences earlier farther back starting with Byzantium. The founding of that city dates back to 650BC when the first Greek settlers arrive there, it was a Greek city now known as Istanbul.
