It is in USA's interest to keep control of Canada's oil output. It is in Canada's interest to control their own exports, and have multiple markets to sell into. Contrary to popular belief, Canada is a sovereign nation. One of the major take-away points of Exxon's 2040 predictions: technology and economics trump politics.....eventually. Technology and economics say a pipeline from Alberta to a coast will be built......eventually.
