Well, it all flew by me. One day I will write a book about corruption.
I figure I got enough for a 100 chapters without going too far from home. Latin American corruption is very like corruption in Quebec. Understood and accepted with rates and fees set for commerce. Institutional.

We call it "knowing business" in this part of the country.

One of these days we will understand how a government can put all its friends in cushy jobs or give them all the gov't contracts, have all its supporters and elected retire millionaires, and call itself "Ontario the Good". The same legislators will send a teenager to jail for 3 years for skipping school or put a man in jail for 2 years stealing a loaf of bread because he was hungry.

In 100 years not one cop or judge or politician has been convicted for taking bribes nor convicted of murder or corruption.

It's not quite that rare.

At least in Latin America and Russia they catch the odd one and send him to the hoosegow.

It costs 150,000 to get a drill into Mexico. The customs official will tell you that to your face. How much does it cost to get a truck of contraband across the border into Canada? There has to be a price because they roll across the border about 50 a day and they never get caught.

Corruption? We are giving lessons. We have a larger rug.
