| EMC Metals (EMC-T), has a preliminary economic assessment of its Nyngan scandium project in New South Wales, Australia. The dream sheet derives a discounted net present value of $175-million, based on a $77.4-million mine plan. The study is "preliminary in nature" and is not a prefeasibility or feasibility study, cautions Mr. Putnam, president and CEO. He may tow the regulatory line but rare earth guru, John Kaiser, is not tethered to such constraints. Mr. Kaiser, never one to waffle, said in July that EMC had "the earmarks of a very high profile big score unfolding over the next few years," adding the company might "only be worth billions to shareholders" but its ramifications could reshape the future. Mr. Kaiser merely calls the new dream sheet projection "robust," but he quickly reverts to form, suggesting the company is "in possession of the Holy Grail long coveted by the aluminum sector." |
