Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good..........Ah, now here's a beautiful clear example of Hellene philosophy starting in heavily around the 5th century BC. Then later Plato would also stress piety & humility. The Greek philosophers would even propose 'oneness with god' could be reached by practicing philanthropy to the point of personal poverty, sexual abstinence and diligent searching for wisdom by helping others. Sound familiar?

(500yrs before Jesus, who himself wandered constantly thru Hellene cities in his youth/manhood of the Decapolis towns around Galilee)

Of course the same could be said over with the Persians when the prophet philosophers there simplify that pantheon of early Iranian gods into two opposing forces: the God of Good/Light Ahura Mazda (illuminating Wisdom) and evil, Angra Mainyu (Destructive Spirit), from which the Hebrews stole much of their theology. In fact the bulk of the Hebrew post exile theology comes into being by these borrowings, the best of it anyways.

Then the Hellenes come in after that 300BC to complete the process after the Persian administration is replace by them with coming of Alexander.
