10/17/14 Contest update
Wall Street’s bungee jumpers had another exciting week and happily, at least for the biotech team, this time their cords snapped back.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median actually managed to close up .57% YTD (vs. a -4.77% YTD loss a week ago). The larger-cap Nasdaq Biotech Index also moved higher for the week, closing up 17.12% YTD (vs. up 15.84% YTD a week ago), but the Nasdaq Composite Index was down a bit, closing up 1.96% YTD (vs. up 2.39% YTD a week ago).
Contest leader DIEGO’s portfolio had a fine week, closing up 70.78% YTD. DEWDIL’s portfolio also did well and is now up 58.89% YTD, putting it in second place, with WATCHIT’s portfolio, up 58.55% YTD, falling to third place.
At Friday's close, half or 23 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 10 of the 46 were beating the NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (SGEN) is down -13.14% YTD.
