Normally I would favor full disclosure to the public but the past two or three weeks watching the Ebola related hype and the reaction to it by the public has me rethinking that position. It seems like the general public are maybe not as capable of handling that type of info in a calm and reasonable manner as I was giving them credit for.
I have seen one report where a guy called 911 to inform them that he overheard an airline pilot talking and that the pilot had " admitted he had been to West Africa and other European countries." The caller was extremely aggravated that this pilot was now going to fly another plane. Bad enough the ignorance that the caller believed West Africa was a European country but the paranoia level he managed to reach based on that ignorance is a little alarming.
I can see where the CDC may not want to make the public aware of the hoards of swarming KILLER ticks. I guess its true in some cases , ignorance is bliss.
