CDC provides estimate of Americans diagnosed with Lyme disease each year is 300,000.
Dying of Lyme disease: Case fatality rate nearly 100%
Preliminary estimates released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that the number of Americans diagnosed with Lyme disease each year is around 300,000.

Research indicates death rate from Lyme disease which is actually far more prevalent in the US then most people think is 100%. Not sure if you read the link I posted but Lyme disease related deaths are being falsely reported as other causes while really the underlying cause of the death is Lyme disease.
This would indicate that tens of thousands of US citizens are dying of this disease each and every year and yet Ebola which has killed one African citizen in Texas is hyped up the way it is. I stand by my premise that the whole Ebola event is just an overblown news story that allows the sale of commercials on US television stations. People love a story with blood and horror in it. Slow painful deaths from a bacteria wreaking hell on several different systems in the human body just not exciting enough I guess.
