Re: Compaq was threatened, in writing, with being cut off from being able to license Win95 AT ALL, simply because they wanted to install Netscape on their computers (regardless of whether it was in additon to or instead of IE).

Barry, I guess that is where my misunderstanding come from. I thought that compaq planed to REPLACE the "internet explore" icon on the desktop with netscape's navigator icon. I can not find the original letter. If you can provide the details, please post the link here. Until then, I believe my interpretation is right. It will be stupid for microsoft to prohibit other companies' software installation. If I were microsoft, I would oppose any of my component be REPLACED(not in addition) at the point of SALE simplely because you must sale my product as is. It is up to the customer to decide when and what to be removed and it is LEGAL just like you removed your passenger side airbag yourself.

regards
