Your post is correct in noting that the problem isn't ebola... but the stupidity of government officials who are unwilling to do the simple and obvious things required to make sure ebola can't and DOESN'T become a larger problem here.
Those who advocate for OBVIOUS, SIMPLE and SANE precautions... are subjected to an effort in shouting them down by those who want to impose politically correct policies that appear purposefully designed to ensure ebola will become a much larger problem, here. The stupidity of left wing political correctness... is the real source of risk... not the disease itself.
The ebola outbreak in Africa... should not be a risk to us.... because it should be easily contained in Africa, using the same methods that have been applied to contain the spread of disease over prior centuries... which WORK... to contain similar risks. We rigorously apply those same methods, today, to prevent disease transmission in animal populations. The Federal government imposes quarantine and testing rules that prevent the spread of disease in the cattle population, and in horses... but, NOT for people... where they instead adopt policies which we KNOW must and will result in the problem coming here, instead of being contained in Africa ? It's not hard to contain ebola in Africa. However, making policies work to contain it, requires you actually adopt those policies that will ensure that containment happens.
We're not afraid of the disease... we're afraid of our government fostering it... instead of preventing it.
Ebola is a risk to us, only because our government is incompetent... and some few in the government apparently are too stupid to know they're stupid, or else they WANT that risk to exist, here.
Sanity reared its head, this week... with the imposition of quarantines being erected by governors who are unwilling to allow their states to be subjected to the CDC's obvious incompetence which we can see has them fostering dysfunctional policies that ensure the problem will not be stopped at our borders.
The antihysteria hysteria... is the reaction of the brainwashed to the directives of the politically correct media... who are seeking to ensure that we DON'T do what we should to stop the problem...
Note, in this article... that, among other things, what you see happening is a proof of the democratic political process WORKING to contain the preferred intrinsic stupidity of public officials... when the incompetent and failed policies the government prefers... are subjected to even a very modest exposure to rational public criticism...

The politically correct... instead prefer we foster and sustain the incompetence that empowers them. However, it turns out that most voters aren't willing to die, or be put at risk... just so the PC crowd can relish feeling all powerful...
A couple of out-takes:
"Jennifer Duffy, who tracks the Senate for the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, puts Ebola in the same category as other recent crises – such as the 2012 deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, and the Secret Service scandals – that have shaken the public’s confidence in the government. She cites polls that show Americans are less concerned about the epidemic coming to the United States than whether the government is prepared if it does. “Is the government ready?” she asked."
"President Barack Obama tried to calm anxious Americans, urging them not to overreact, and he explained that the government was doing everything it could to keep citizens safe. Speaking from the Oval office this week, he said: “The public health infrastructure and systems that we are now putting in place across the board around the country should give the American people confidence that we’re going to be in a position to deal with any additional cases of Ebola that might crop up without it turning into an outbreak,” he said.
In other words... we are unprepared... we don't know what we're doing... we're not planning on doing anything to prevent the disease from coming here... and my plan for leading from behind requires we won't act to stop it until after it is too late... but, you should trust me, because, if you like your current doctor, you can keep your current doctor...
American's don't trust their government to do the right thing... because they SHOULDN'T...
