Welcome aboard, Yellowtail ! The small power generators are manufactured by various companies, such as Caterpillar, etc. However, the thing to keep in mind is that many of these small generators are readily available to be leased for releatively modest prices, about a few thousand dollars per month. California, by far the most populous state, is in fact a net importer of energy. Its electrical rates are currently, almost twice the national average. (The new deregulation of electricity and the ensuing competition will take care of that discrepency, I suspect, in a relatively short order.) Many of Tri-Valley's existing natural gas wells and the large Tracy gas discovery which is to be hooked up shortly and the potentially humongous F-zone gas well, which is scheduled to commence drilling before this week-end, are all ideal for beig used for generating electricity, using the aforementioned small generators. Generating electricity by putting these small generators at the well-heads and readily selling that electricity by using common carriers, as of January 01, 1998, can provide much more income than selling gas in its raw form. Therein, lies the great potential for much improved income for appropriately licensed gas companies, such as Tri-Valley, which boasts relatively much larger wells than its nearest competitors in California. |
