SEC Insider-Trading Probe Centers On CMS.

The Wall Street Journal (10/29, A1, Mullins, Pulliam, Weaver, Subscription Publication) reports in a front-page story that the Securities and Exchange Commission is conducting three overlapping insider-trading probes involving the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which together represent one of the largest investigations into leaks of government information to Wall Street. In one probe, the SEC is reviewing whether any CMS officials tipped off policy-research firm Marwood Group LLC about the agency’s review of Dendreon Corp.’s prostate-cancer treatment, according to people familiar with the investigation. The SEC and the FBI are also examining whether CMS officials leaked information about an increase in funding for health-insurance companies before it was made public in April 2013.
