My information came from an article in the WSJ, I have never seen the actual text of the letter. Compaq's intent (Netscape in addition to IE vs. instead of IE) was unclear, but the WSJ article made it quite clear that MS would not accept either position. I agree with the Justice Dept. that for MS to prohibit EITHER action would be both anti-competitive and a violation of antitrust. Apparently, the judge feels that way also.
