Seeing how the Democratic party is not going all out to keep the Senate majority, I feel that would like to lose it and give the Republicans a free hand in screwing up the country through confrontation with the White House. They think that this approach would help them (the Dems) retain the WH in 2016. This strategy could backfire if a strong candidate like Hillary decides to not run for the WH.
