The salient points Maher made, apparently, are here.

Maher then goes on to enumerate real quantifiable Democratic successes.

  • 63 straight months of economic expansion.
  • A depression averted.
  • A deficit reduced by two thirds.
  • A healthcare law that's working and lowering healthcare cost.
  • Two women on the Supreme Court.
  • Bin Laden is dead.
  • Stock Market at record heights
  • Unemployment down from 10.2 to 5.9%.
  • Gas prices are down.
When compared with ANY modern day president these "accomplishments", taken in context, are trival and contrived, and in some cases false.

"A depression averted"? A more informed argument would point out that it was a recession dragged out for six years that should have been over within a couple. Deficit reduced? That's ridiculous. We're six years down the road and Obama still can't tie the worst deficit produced under every other president in history. Economic expansion and unemployment? That's absurd -- we've got stagnant growth and the lowest labor force participation rate in 40 years.

"Two women" on the Supreme Court? Yes, two liberal ideologues; a normal function of the president.

Gas prices are [finally] down, but that is a total stretch to try and credit Obama with it.

It is just bullshit. What's REAL is that politicians are running from Obama. With good reason.
