That article is one non sequitur built on another and another and another.

But I think the Fed is likely to nudge up interest rates if the unemployment rate reaches <5% next year, and inflation is still tame.


But the likely scenario I see in the near term is a deflation scare... the cost of gasoline acts as a tax on everything, and the tax is getting cut dramatically. So product costs are getting cut, and competition could lead to lower prices short term. We'll probably know in about a month.


One thing I think the author got right, we're at a turning point. But I've been around long enough to know that predicting the economy or the Fed is a fools errand.
