Gene, as far as I know, cable access bypasses POTS altogether. No phone switches should be involved (unless, of course, a phone line is used as the upstream, e.g. ISDN). So when you connect to PRS via cable access, you are not going thru POTS switches. Anyway, the following is a good article which talks about cable modems vs. xDSL: techweb.com joey
