Peter has commented repeatedly that he favors split power. I think he has a point. It is interesting to see you agreeing with him.

I would not trust trends purporting to show trends from 12 / 6 / 4 periods. You might want to question them as well.

The longest trend in there is the House. The shortest is the Senate with only four full terms during the period. Overlaying a trendline over four data points is remarkably unreliable.
