I was watching CNN on election night where Paul Begala asked Newt Gingrich about his "Contract with America" when his party won in 1996 and something similar that Boehner/McConnell have this time. Gingrich was mum.

I also noticed that during Mitch McConnell's press conference yesterday he didn't talk much about what the party would do for the next 2 years. Instead he talked about what the Congress "would not" do to include, not shut down the Govt., increase the debt limit without much resistance etc. etc.

The economy will continue to be on the upward trajectory. What would be interesting is the anticipated clash between John McCain as the Chair of the Defence Committee and Obama's C-in-C authority over increased military involvement overseas that would cost US lives. I see that as an issue that Obama would like to carry over to 2016 and I am sure the Republicans would fall into that trap.

Obama may be a lame duck. But he still continues to show that his weapon of the African American vote is very potent and the only person who can come anywhere near it to lay that claim is Bill Clinton. So the Republicans must use their "third eye" to be watchful of that for their WH bid in 2016. Obama will push the Hispanic, African American agendas and he has already started doing so by announcing that he will use his executive powers, no matter what, to move the immigration issue forward. Seems to me that he is pushing to include the immigration reform to be part of his legacy in addition to healthcare reform.
