SHORT SELLING - ITRON ITRI has 1,393,266 short positions as of 11-15-97. When a stock is thinly traded like ITRI, it is possibe to drive the stock one way or the other very easily. The Nasdaq market being down so many days in a row has let the shorts think they can have their way with the stock. Wait until another meter contract is announced or until a couple weeks before earnings are out and the stock will be back up the $23-$25 dollar range. The days for all the shorts to cover is 12.23.
