BTW I don't consider File manager, editors, paint programs and all that extra stuff to be the operating system. They are "free" utilities. They are even installed by default under the accessories folder.

Bingo! So why do you consider the browser to be anything other than an accessory? It is NO DIFFERENT than the file manager. When MS started including File Manager as part of its OS people like Norton and Lotus complained because it made Norton Utilities and Lotus Magellan less attractive. This is the SAME THING!
