Dear Ted,

Instead of a scheduled backup process, you should consider "simultaneously" writing transaction log records to 2 separate disks so you don't have to back them up at all. Flash drives will make the resource overhead of that process insignificant (for your purposes).

We would gladly do this, if you would be so kind as to get us a copy of MS SQL Server Enterprise 2012, which supports just this level of fast recoverability and redundancy through AlwaysOn. Here is the purchase link.

Your best bet would be to buy us two copies, one for the live server, and one for the live backup.
