Well, heck.

Is that all it costs?

You should have enough click-through revenue from all those annoying ads to fund such a piddly amount.

Hey, here's an idea ...

Instead of making the BACKUP of you transaction log a database with all its associated overhead, how about being creative and design a way to store your data in a minimal overhead storage system.

You know, kinda' like a sequential file.

Then, if/when it becomes necessary to recover a transaction, simply locate that transaction in the sequential "database" and recover it. That should be a rare occasion. It's a BACKUP. If you frequently need a speedy way to recover your data when your primary log file disappears for some reason, then your existing design sux.

Like I said ... the best way to improve performance of a task is to avoid doing the task.

If the above is too complex for your logo-saturated mind, I'm sure we can find an entry level IT student to help you out with the details.

If the above thoughts sound over-simplified ... it was intentional. The point is, there are TONS of ways to solve a problem, and complex solutions aren't always the most economical or effective. So, be creative.

Sure is a pretty day.
