Max, great story - thanks for sharing. That was a cool thing for your dad to do - slip you $5(!) to get into a Celtic playoff game with legends on the court.

You're right - the game has changed. Back then it was enjoyable to watch other teams play on a Sunday afternoon network game because of the players. My gosh, watching old game clips from back in the day it seems like a completely different game, and not just the uniforms. The styles of jump shots and the characters taking the jumpers is so different than today's players. Every star then had a unique, identifiable style. Oscar Robertson's shot was different than Earl the Pearl's which differs from Don Nelson's or Pistol Pete's or Elgin Baylor's. You could imitate them on the playground. Same with their free throws. Today's players are better athletes but much more homogenized in their styles and mannerisms. Not the same. Sigh. Now get off my lawn!
