A lot of animals died out after the last ice age, but where are the new species?

The buffalo are different from those of the ice age. Only in north America. Our NA bison are related to the Eurasian wisent that crossed the land bridge and replaced the bison here before.

The end of the ice age was very much a time of punctuated change north of the tropics but as we would expect, not much change south of the tropics where the climate shift was far less dramatic.

There was a climate shift south in the tropics in that there was a lot less precipitation during the ice age.
