New Theory/Hypothesis: Greg's decade memory loss due to chemical exposures & MJ fog in the 1960s led to a personal dangerous ozone depletion. Higher levels of incoming radiation then highly sped up the rate of mutations & the poor little fruitfly lost his wings.

Left only with anger, frustration, obsessions & paranoid delusions, wingless became the dull witless worm we see today.
