Exactly. My first bewildered thought when the date/time "enhancement" was introduced was "what the heck is Dmitry thinking?". The only conclusion I could draw was that he simply wasn't thinking.

Did Dmitri (and the rest of the SI whiz kids) make a conscious decision simply to mimic other sites? I sure hope not. But, I can see no other reason.

If there was a rational explanation, he would have offered it. Instead, his decision was to issue bans in a vain attempt to quash any discussion. Unfortunately for him, censorship never works in the long run; but he can wave bye bye to his credibility FOREVER.
