Key point, Dan. MR can be used with KM, and probably will be, at some point in time. But the real issue is does the performance increase that KM confers on platters read by tripads give *cost* benefits over conversion of that manufacturing line to MR? Even inductive heads could be converted over to MR or KM, and which alternative would generate the "sweet spot" of cost savings/performance boost?

BTW, I'll wager a year's salary (empty promise) that you're right about IBM, but what was your thinking- MR vs KM?
