Only natural we'd see man in early civilizations begin to illiterate their love of life & express their desires have it continue, its what we do... we live. Trouble is its not always a feast, there's is famine too, pleasure & pain, those that have & those that have not.
We see besides primates, other mammals morn their dead, elephants & giraffes, if there is one eternal life that would have to be thought of in the present tense, though entire lives can be filled with nostalgia & regret. Buddha 500yr before, said all life must endure suffering, seems the rabbi Jesus agreed.
Nostalgia: The Greek word for return is nostos & algos means suffering, so nostalgia is the suffering caused by an unappeased yearning to return.
