Competition! With Datek, EBroker and others near the $10 per trade level they need to lower their rates if they want to have more Internet business. I am waiting for my Datek account to be set up, but for now I have been trading with Etrade. YES I have had problems with them. Their screens seem to be slow for me and a few months ago I could not get in sometimes. Now however they seem to have corrected that problem I THINK. However when a big volume day comes, I will find out. Personally, I think it would be wise to have at least two accounts. So for me now, I will have Etrade - I have no real complaints right now - and possibly Datek. I am also interested in EBroker and Lombard. Etrade needs to lower their rates to compete. However, they are offering additional services - news, etc. And thanks for the email Martin.
