You should read about the Omride dynasty (hated by the Judahites) in Israel the ninth and eighth centuries BCE. Archaeology confirms that the kings of that period (Omri, Ahab, Ahaziah, and Joram) constructed major public works and their military achievements are confirmed by extrabiblical sources.

Spend a few hours or days reading and thinking about it and your knowledge of the central highlands of Israel between 1350 and 700 BCE will increase by several orders of magnitude.
