The more metrics that come out, the more convinced I am that Amazon's SVOD bet will go down as the biggest money pit in its history. Amazon's SVOD product launched in early-2011. Nearly 4 years and perhaps $4 billion dollars later, Amazon has 2.58% of the market to show for it. Worse, it's spending perhaps 50% as much as Netflix on content while getting only 7% as much usage. Even Amazon's HBO deal--which is reportedly costing Amazon $200 million per year--hasn't moved the needle. arstechnica.com zdnet.com
