Ha! I spent my life buying and selling and setting prices, maximizing profits. If you're so numb to Walmart marketing, yes I can I understand how you fall for it. That and the local company prejudice, which I applaud.

I remember flying/driving to Bentonville in the old days to call on Walmart buyers, what a pain. It used to be hell to get to.


Well, it isn't hell to get to anymore, but Walmart is an organization that is exceptionally demanding of its vendors. As you found out. But that is why they are so successful.

Walmart's profit margin runs around 3% of sales. I think that, taken alone, is sufficient to conclude that the market in which they operate is efficient. They've made huge investments in technology and development of internal systems which make them able to return 3%. Part of that is to be sure that as the world's biggest retailer, they're getting the world's best pricing. Which enables them offer the world's best pricing to their customers.

If this is not proof that markets serve the consumer I just don't know what is.
