Did you even bother to read that tripe you posted?
I would say this much: Because Fox has a vastly larger viewership than the other "news" channels, and a more diverse one, I would anticipate that many of the viewers tuned to Fox pay less attention to the news than, e.g., MSNBC or CNN viewers -- who are all there because they're left wing nutjobs. That simply isn't the case with Fox, since it is the principal source of news for such a large number of viewers compared to the others.
And in fact, a [legitimate] Pew study showed that Fox viewers' had about average knowledge of political events. Which is as you would expect given the Central Limit Theorem and the Law of Large Numbers as they apply to statistical methods.
But the so-called "studies" you point to are ridiculous. One of them, for example, referred to Fox viewers not knowing about the scientific consensus on Global Warming. Which more intelligent people recognize as total poppycock. So, it isn't surprising that more intelligent viewers blow off GW.
Same is true about the reference to health care. The "proof" offered was that Fox viewers believed it would lead to a "government takeover." Well, that's correct. Zeke Emanuel, himself, has said it will kill the insurnace industry to be replaced with Single Government Payer. So, who was right about that?
The reality is that Fox Viewers, being an older demographic, understand more about government because we have experienced it and know that government expands without bounds. |
