Where did that idea come from? A few months?

The claim as you stated was that bacteria evolved the ability to digest this polymer sometime between 1935 and 1975 when you claim the bacteria was discovered. That is a 40 year period, or about 700,000 generations in bacteria time, and that's 700,000 generations FOR EACH BACTERIA alive in 1935 so you have to multiply those odds by hundreds of trillion bacteria to understand how many events might have resulted in what appears to be a simple change.

You imply that this should be a rare event when in fact it is very ordinary.
