The author of that salon piece is Luke Brinker. Don't know his work well enough to say anything about the quote. But it's clear that the Obama who picked the original cabinet would consider Lieberman. However, the Obama who seems less willing to move Republican way that we are now seeing, is unlikely to go there. But he's probably looking for someone to ratchet up opposition to ISIS in Iraq and Syria and do more in Afghanistan. So he might lean in Lieberman's direction without going there.
