Time will tell if he's playing this correctly, but I still think the fundamentals of SDRL make it a prime/solid spec play candidate for cash one does not count on having for retirement sustenance. If it were to go completely under due to the sector fundamentals, so would 80% of all offshore OSX companies and I seriously doubt that will happen.

Agree, have been waiting and watching as it appeared inevitable that the divvy couldn't hold up as oil prices continued trending down. Started a 1/4 position at $16.00 today as a value play and will average in to a full position. Supply / demand / sentiment / speculation all play a role, but regardless of how oil prices are ultimately determined, based on its use in fuels and countless consumer goods, oil will continue to be in high demand for the foreseeable future. It's now a matter of waiting for the next up cycle. Are a few oil princes in Saudi Arabia playing a game, which will end soon. How many years??? And, when will a dividend return.
