> He is a politician and they are not subject to trade description laws, or other consumer law which requires statements about products to not be fraudulent or there is punishment for the liars. There is tort law so that if they do something that causes harm then the harmed people can sue for damages. Presumably he is not offering his assets as security against such liability if he is wrong, which he has been due to the thermopause - now 17 years long.
