They all like playing Perry Mason and read too much nonsense from blogs. Correct, no one had been charged. In trial much of the evidence the prosecutor presented that didn't favor the officer would have been challenged and likely not admissible due to the witnesses apparent dishonesty. This would have been kept out by a defense attorney, but more likely kept out by the prosecution due to the obvious nature of their statements.
