One thing, it is really hard to cut through the media bias. It is really a big difference between Bush & Obama, though -- Obama's first reaction is to try to silence any media that happens to oppose anything he does. Bush just didn't seem to care, when it came down to it.

I've always thought Bush should have been more assertive in getting his message out, at least while in office. I think he recognized, though, that the media of the day are not important to his legacy, which would be determined long after he is dead and buried.
