Robert, please, do not attempt to compare Norton Utiities or Lotus Magellan with anything Microsoft bundles with Windows--with particular emphasis on Lotus Magellan, one of the four most elegant programs ever written, IMHO. BTW, I still use Norton Utilities in conjunction with Central Point's PC Tools version 6.0. I cannot imagine using my computer without Lotus Magellan.

I rely heavily on these three programs to sort out the simplistic and altogether cryptic and useless messages given by Windows and Windows programs when these programs go haywire (as often they do) or otherwise do not perform as expected.

I sincerely wish that Lotus could be pursuaded to release Magellan's code to the public domain so that it might be updated by the Magellan gurus among us.
