Because economic calamities, created by Democrats, take years or even decades to collapse.

For example, the greatest fiscal threat to our nation today is Medicare, followed by Social Security, followed by Obamacare.

Social Security was rigged from the outset, by requiring that the money be invested only in Treasury securities. In essence, added to the national debt. So, you wake up one morning 9 Trillion in debt. And half the Senate has no idea how you got there. Same plan with Obamacare.

Medicare didn't make sense for other reasons. Clinton's housing crisis took more than 10 years to collapse when in did in 2008.

I don't know if Democrats structure things that way intentionally, or if it just works out that way. But those are the facts.
