To Bob Bemer, c/o TEDennis:
Welcome to the FBN thread.
I'd like to commend you on the text of the keynote speech you gave last week in Washington: bmrsoftware.com. It was certainly a call to arms.
As you may or may not know, we here on SI have our own little battle going on trying to convince people that the Y2K problem is "real". The problem is, sometimes the Y2K vendors are we the investors' own worst enemy. In other words, all these claims of a "silver bullet" not only detract from the hard work that some Y2K vendors have done, but it actually has the effect of making people actually believe there really is such a thing. You do a good job of debunking that claim and should be applauded.
The FBN thread is our little attempt to separate the wheat from the chaff in this industry-- and throw away the wheat. Except for when we make fun of TEDennis's penchant for knitting sweaters out of cat hair, we are usually not very serious around here. And certainly that part about the Vertex 2000 hair treatment was made without actually calling your company for confirmation. We apologize.
But, almost seriously, please check out our software product catalogue: exchange2000.com. Or, if you want to program in style, check out our fashion catalogue: magneticdiary.com.
Lastly, I want to publicly deny the rumors that you sold FBN the worldwide rights to your software for two tickets to next week's Cowboys-Giants game. Pretty shrewd of those Inuits to snap up the rights to Greenland. If only the Cowboys were still vying for a playoff spot...
Have fun. (gg)
