The objective of Survivor is to win the game. To that end you vote for or against anyone that will get you to the finals and hopefully the million dollars. In that regard I agree 100% with your view. In all the seasons I've never seen anyone I thought was out and out racist or voting to keep any certain race down. Of course I don't know what is in the hearts and minds of anyone else either. But if i gave that impression I apologize and assure you being overly concerned with race is not something I give a lot of daily thought.
I think my main point was the producers at CBS make it hard for any minority win because of simple math. And that is done mainly for ratings. I didn't mean to offend you or anyone with that point of view. As with any view it may be a wrong view on my part too. Wouldn't be the first time either. lol
As I said in my first post I hated that Jeremy was voted out. But if I was in the game I probably would have voted him out too, not because of race but because he was a real threat to win. However in real life if we were to have met I wouldn't have had any problem being friends. I really liked his work ethic and his views on life in general. He and I are a lot alike. As far as the rest of the cast, not so much.
Last night I thought the show was giving Natalie the "winner's edit". To this point she is outplaying most everyone and if makes the finals has a great chance to win. I'm not a big fan of reality show crossovers but that does give one a certain advantage. To be honest I'm not really pulling for anyone right now.
Just one last thing(which I will probably regret adding :). We get on these message boards using short names or symbols and no one really knows anyone else. We don't know anyone's background or life experiences and take a few sentences and judge people by that. We may guess right or may guess wrong. For sure my life hasn't been spent in an ivory tower. I can't begin to count the number of blacks, hispanic, gays, and ex-cons I've worked with daily. Hired a lot and fired a lot. At one company I had I figured at least 90% of the employees had seen the inside of a jail cell. And that included the girls in the office. :) Most of the ones that had not were the Mexicans. Your statement "judge others as individuals" is how I've dealt with with people for years. That's why I found it odd and funny that someone would try tell and almost preach to me on how to view and handle race issues. Now I don't know your background either. Maybe you lived it somehow, maybe you got it out of a book, or maybe you use to watch a lot of Oprah. I have noticed that many people that have the strongest views on race are the ones that hardly ever mingle outside their core group. A last note, I have also dealt with many minorities with college degrees too. For example bankers, real estates agents, doctors, sales people, etc. For them I use the same approach, if you are good and honest, ok. If you are a jerk then that's how I will treat you. Sorry to get this far off topic and let's get back to talking about Survivor.
