I'm not suggesting that Saudi motives are nefarious - just that they have multiple rational incentives (most of which you pointed to) that all happen to align right now - screw the Iranians and Russians, show the other members of Opec who is boss, and for the middle-term, reduce investment in non-conventional oil and gas as well as renewable energy.

If they had wanted to, the Saudis could have reduced uncertainty by some statement along the lines that if the price dropped below $60 (or whatever) they would consider taking some action. The fact that they have not done that suggests to me that they like the uncertainty.
